Are you interested in the Civil War or reading a first hand account of the first use of the mechanical landmine in battle? You can be part of this experience by helping transcribe this great document.
This letter is filed in the "Telegraph" series of the Warshaw Collection of Business Americana, 1724-1977. While this may seem an odd place for a Civil War letter to be filed, it was actually part of telegraph company records. The letter was probably sent to the telegraph company for the intended purpose of being transmitted by telegraph. At this time, we do not know the senders name, only that he was a Union soldier.
