In 1941 Mary Cardwell Dawson (1894-1962) organized and founded the National Negro Opera Company (NNOC) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The organization was the first African American opera company in the United States. Help transcribe programs and promotional materials to learn more about the company’s activities in Washington, DC.
