[[underlined]] July 6 [[/underlined]] Went to Salt Lake City and studied wagons till time for the train to Park City, then to Park City for S. castanurus skeletons. Did not arrive till 7 P.M., & it was then too late for the squirrels. In coming along the R.R. I saw dozens of S. armatus from below the Halfway House up to Park City. Saw a [[underlined]] Lewis Woodpecker [[/underlined]] (M. torquatus) just before reaching Park City. Am perfectly sure of the species. It flew slowly past the train showing the tawny sides and black back perfectly plainly.
