[[underlined]] April 26[[/underlined]] Got a horse and buggy & drove across onto the big rolling prairie west of the Guadalupe River. Found some new plants, saw a Caracara and shot a [[underlined]]Lepus merriami[[/underlined]]
Caught only Geomys in my traps. Took them up. Shot a big bull frog thohat would weigh 3 or 4 pounds. Had it cooked & found it rather tough, otherwise very good.

[[underlined]]April 27[[/underlined]] Left Quero & tracked north to West Point. To near Yokum the scrub oak and half open country continues, then fine rolling prairie begins and continues to Flatsonia. There we enter the oak openings again and have such desert plants as cactus, mesquite, acacia farnesia, Sisbarnia[[?]], yuccas, & etc. Live oak, post oak, black jack are the conspicuous trees near West Point.
Heavier timber grows along across the river bottoms.
