[[underlined]] Mt. El Capitan [[/underlined]] 

The Canadian zone reaches from about 8000 N.E. in gulches, or 9000 east open slopes to the top at 10000. and is makred by Pinus flexilis, Abies [[space]], Populus tremuloides, Acer glabrum, Spirea [[space]], Pachystema, [[space]] & Quercus durandii?
The top of the mountain is covered with Pinus flexilis, Pseudotsuga, Abies, & Quercus durandii? There is no trace of a timberline on this or the next higher peak.  No snow.  No water visible.
Very few birds or mounds high up.

In returning to camp we came down a dry S.E. slope & got some very high altitudes for Upper Sonoran plants

[[underlined]] June 15. [[/underlined]] Went with Jose Montans to his ranchero on the head of Blue Water & got the skins of an old & young bear he killed yesterday.  He brought the skulls & one of a larger bear killed a month ago.  Made up skins most all day.
