You must take immeasurable joy in realizing that your heritage is in a country that has the most perfect machinery for self-government in existence. But you likewise are heavily charged with the responsibility of keeping this machinery functioning smoothly. It will run perfectly if WE who keep it in motion understand how all of its various parts function, and if we work as skilled artisans, not blunderers, at our separate tasks. You must develop your capabilities and discover your limitations to find where at this machine you can work most happily and efficaciously. If certain parts are out of balance at times, it is because WE who operate it have mishandled some intricate piece of its mechanisms.
