Anacostia Neighborhood Museum

Located southeast of the Anacostia River, the Neighborhood Museum was developed to provide opportunities and resources to Anacostia community groups and individuals, and museum experience relevant to local history and needs.  A specially equipped exhibits laboratory, established with Bicentennial and Smithsonian support, provides facilities for a continuing exhibition program which includes special and traveling exhibits viewed in Washington and throughout the country.  Research is conducted by a small staff in support of education program sponsors conferences and workshop activities for teachers and produces audio-visual and other education aids for classroom use.
