Proceedings of the Board of Regents Meeting held on January 28, 1980

About the Project

In 1980, as Smithsonian senior leadership undertakes the planning stage for an Asian center, consultation with and support from organizations in Asian countries was a clearly understood need. On another front, there was an opportunity to acquire Gilbert Stuart portraits of George and Martha Washington. Also, with growing collections came the responsibility to expand the collection support, functions, equipment and facilities. Please help us transcribe the proceedings from the January 1980 meeting of the Board of Regents and learn more about these efforts while helping to make detailed searching of these minutes possible.
