Nulato, March 6th 1867.

Col. Chas. S. Bulkley,
Engineer in Chief,
W. U. Tel. Co.

Sir:

I have the honor to submit the following report. After the departure of the vessels, I left St. Michaels Oct. 8th with two loaded bidarras for Unalachlert, where arr'd Oct. 11th October the 27th, as the weather was sufficiently cold to admit of traveling, I left with our party and Mr. F. Whymper for Nullato, Mr. J. S. Dyer remaining at Unalachlert to make purchases and see to the forwarding of supplies, &c. Deep snow, runaway dogs, and open water delayed our arrival at Nulatto until the 15th of November. The trains were immediately despatched to bring up supplies which had been partially transported to Ulukuk by Messrs. Dyer, Dall and Francis. They returned November 30th bringing Mr. Dall.

Successive trips were made almost continuously during the winter
