Lines Written March 11th 1901 All night I heard in sleep "The sound of abundance of rain;" When the light of morning dawned The floods were abroad on the plain. I saw the misty sheen [[strikethrough]] where they [[/strikethrough]] Where they traversed the meadows brown, And heard the turbid brooks That carried the road-bed down. Out of the rain-clouds pall, In the blackness of the night, The gentle drops did fall, And gathered in their might. Long in the dam united The threatning waters wait, Till the foremost rank resistless Bursts in thunder from the gate.
