Wide and deep the torrent rages
Oer the meadow-streamlets bed,
Where forget-me-nots and cresses
In its placid shallows spread.

Leaping as in exultation,
Wrestling as they gallop, – free!
Ride the ripples of the current
Onward, onward to the sea.
