And wine! & Food! And were so tired & hungry we will never forget this relief. Trains went by every 10 min. outside our window transporting the army, but none of us heard them.

We had driven through Italy, with its war preparations, Switzerland the day it mobilized, France the day it mobilized, & arrived the day F & E declared war.
