do anything on my bad leg. When we got down Hermann apologized to me when I explained why I was so upset in climbing, & now we are better friends than ever. 

I only fell twice the whole way, & we all lunched in the Gasthof feeling [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] so sympathetic, & [[strikethrough]] that [[/strikethrough]] talking about Mattoon [[Mathon]] as the most beautiful & wild & varied tour in the world with [[strikethrough]] a def [[/strikethrough]] infinite hangs to go down -- one after another, & with such glorious snow as one rarely sees in a lifetime. My courage & my leg are with me again, thank God, & I will always remember today as one of those precious moments in life, like that tour that A & H & I took down to E. Jacob last year, only today was even [[strikethrough]] more beautiful [[/strikethrough]] lovelier. Alice has just left for a day, & tomorrow I will take a days rest, & draw the gems some more. I am thin & strong these days, even if it did take two weeks it was worth coming over here for, & worth [[strikethrough]] the extra we [[/strikethrough]] every minute since I left N.Y. 3 weeks ago -- just to have today!

Well I am a month behind in here, & have only recorded my adventures in list form in my engagement book. I have even stopped writing them in letters, but it doesn't matter, as my mind is so dull & lazy when I really get involved with exercize here that that always happens, & consequently my [[strikethrough]] only [[/strikethrough]] winters in St Anton have always remained inside me -- & perhaps it makes their memories ever more wonderful since I haven't limited them with descriptions. I am ill in bed now -- with a cough that wracks my insides beyond all descriptions. I have lain awake coughing & aching from head to foot for the last two nights till 3 & 4 a.m. -- until Dr Schalle brings me a drug. It is very exasperating to be non-existant in this world of action, & I am daily getting behind in training, but up until now I think I can say I was next best to the best, who is Betty. Now that Mary & Helen & Dot are doing well -- I will be lucky if I can keep up with those four. Hermann says that [[strikethrough]] if I ra [[/strikethrough]] I ski plenty well enough & fast
