80th Day First Day of Spring 286 Days to come
[[strikethrough]] Feb 29th [[/strikethrough]] Mar 1st

I was awakened this A.M. by K calling up from Sandwich asking me to see him tonight which I can't do. Well it really looks as if pride has been blown to the winds, [[strikethrough]] & [[/strikethrough]] especially after getting a wonderful letter from him yesterday, which made me very happy, [[strikethrough]] especially [[/strikethrough]] as it had been written in cold reason at 9 a.m. [[strikethrough]] the night after [[/strikethrough]] the morning after Friday evening. It seems that he actually feels the way I do now, if not more so, but something worries me about its being quite such a neat & ideal little affair. We have only [[strikethrough]] known [[/strikethrough]] seen each other about 19 days out of our lives - & it has progressed at such heat so undisillusioningly ever since the first day. - We [[strikethrough]] ha [[/strikethrough]] went to Romeo & Juliet together, & 2 days later told each other that we cared, neither one having been in the least sure about what the other felt. Perhaps that was the climax - but I pray that this last week before I sail won't upset its progress in any way, because it is an impecable little slice of Romance so far, with all the joy & excitement that Romance has, & none of the blows or disillusionments that wrench

one back to earth. He & John are so opposite. He makes molehills out of mountains, while John makes mountains out of molehills, [[strikethrough]] & the [[/strikethrough]] with the result [[strikethrough]] is [[/strikethrough]] that K [[strikethrough]] when [[/strikethrough]] being literal & realistic seems twice as romantic and mysetriousbbecause it isn't his type to be in love, & when he is, he is never ridiculous as someone is who gloats over Romance & lets himself be carried away by it. I love talking nonsense, & with K. I feel I have found the right pair of ears, & can unhinge my thoughts, & talk nonsense.

It turned out that he came over to Babs' house tonight - & it wasn't much fun. I was too excited to talk sense, & he was a bit maudlin, [[strikethrough]] in what he said, [[/strikethrough]] because as he said he had been thinking too much about me all day. I have only one night free next week, & that irritated [[strikethrough]] him & me too. [[/strikethrough]] us both. I [[strikethrough]] stayed for a week with Babs & John [[/strikethrough]] left Tufton St & went back to Flemings the next day, having heard amusing political stories for a week, & enjoyed getting to know John & Babs after four years. They seem wonderfully happy, both in work & with each other.
