for his birthday. I am as disappointed as anything [[strikethrough]] [?] [[/strikethrough]] untragic could disappoint me - first because Larry is one of the few men who really interests me, & whom I so rarely see that any chance to become better friends is cherished. I see him rarely because he is so busy, & because I have never broken the ice with him - & this might be the last chance I'll have. I got a letter from Kenneth asking if my silence meant I had forgotten. It came from Berlin Olympics & showed a marvelous sense of proportion about the relative lack of importance of sports which few atheletes remember at such a high pitch. Bill Carter is coming to Syosset on Wed. Well I now seem to be having [[strikethrough]] my [[/strikethrough]] a fling of flightiness which should have
