April 21" 1868 Directs that the case of Basil Lockwood, of Uniontown, and his Nephew be investigated. He is informed that Basil has been arrested & placed in jail for no offence and that his nephew, was arrested for having cut limbs from a felled tree. |

'68 | Charlottsville Va April 14 " 1868 States that Henry Reves (Cold) who is now at work for Genl Freeman in Washington D.C. left 3 small children with Thomas Terrell (col) in Charlottsville whome he (Reves) promised to send $10 per month to pay for the care and keeping of the children, Reves has failed to send a cent and the children are in distress. |

Reports that Wm C Bryant a Citizen of Washington D.C. by written authority from Hd Qrs B.R.F & A.L. — subject to the sanitary direction of the Surg, in charge of Freedmans Village, has for the past 2 years, & is at present engaged in the excavation of bones of dead animals on the portion of Arlington Gov't Farms, known as [[Canols? Carrols?]] ¼ of a mile distant from the Village.

States that, as the summer approaches the air through a radius of one mile will become impregnated with poison and "malaria" — the result of advanced decomposition etc. & requests that these operations be discontinued. |

States that two women from Kendall Green Catharine Diggs & Kitty Canols state that the people at Kendall Green have been notified April 18”1868 (thro Mr Beckley) from Wisewell Barracks, that next Wednesday morning the buildings in which they live will be torn down & those who cannot pay rents, must go to Campl Hospt Barracks.

States that most of the 200 families there are among the most destitute of the City from various causes cannot pay much rent. She presented an appeal from 18 mothers of families (lately discharged from her Industrial school) to the Ass't Comr asking that the Barracks be left standing, Asks that the remain. |
