Dykeman offered $3 for the lower part of the sideboard so that made $10 in all. I was working over there taking up the tacks yesterday and started a fire in the kitchen stove and it filled the room full of smoke and just about choked me. I had Deacon look at it this morning and it is all cracked inside and worthless so I had it taken out so that it wouldn't spoil the floor covering when that is laid. About the only thing now is the piano and the globes for the gas fixtures and I haven't been able to sell them. It is very cold tonight - down to about 26 now. {{Don't}} Dont {{/Don't}} forget to send in your ballots for Hoover. The time is short. Best regards to all and write when you can.

Dear Sidney, [30 Oct. 1928]
  I meant to write to you last week but the days went by so fast that I {{didn't}} didnt {{/didn't}} get to it. Monday night I had a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce and Thursday night four of us went down to the meeting of the Bridgewater Chamber of Commerce by special invitation. Friday Night Ralph came down and we went to the football game Saturday and Harvard won. Sunday I was at the office in the morning as I expect we will sell some lots on Washington St. and at noon we took Ralph to Cambridge so he could go back with one of the boys in a new Ford Sedan. I have had considerable to do
