Today has been a quiet one for her as Mabel attended church and she for once didn't want to, and Mabel had another engagement this afternoon. Doris called on Isabel who had Dick's Mary there and they didn't amalgamate very well, and Doris came home rather hurt at their shyness and inability to talk to her. Amy was there and said she was coming over soon. So she has been rather grumpy too this afternoon. I am going to sweeten their various tempers by getting ice cream for them for supper.

As I am writing this, Helen Wales, Ethel's sister, drove up and sat chatting for a while. She is getting pensioned off from teaching next spring and feels rather hopeless as no one wants old teachers,— she says all the govern. agencies turn them down. And she is probably not over 60 and quite active.

I hope you aren't trying to do too much in addition to your day's work, and getting to bed early and sleeping well. I paid the insurance Saturday A.M. and took Doris to a local dentist who is going to fill her teeth a week from Monday & Tues. (6 teeth, isn't it awful). I am going to have all the house work on my hands from now on. Hope you have enough gas, apparently there is a big shortage about Boston. Will be glad when you come up.
