Dear Sid:

I have started in at your house this morning. Grace Soule was there putting up the 7 shades (I paid her $1 apiece for them). She said she wasn't putting up the best quality as they didn't seem to pay with the tenants; but only the next best. I think that is better too.

I am going to put in places that need it the whiting and paint over this, this afternoon. I can mix up my own paints from my palette for these little spots. I painted right over the place where the plaster was gone in the living room over the register. It looks all right.

Mrs Maxwell left two old wooden bureaus, the chest of drawers part, you know. Would you like either of them for your little museum? They are old things but one would do for your specimens. The other seems to be a sort of side board bare with large compartments below the drawers. Otherwise I'll leave them for the next tenant to get rid of or you to shove down cellar next year.

I got a letter from Elizabeth Hoyt returning my book to Arlington.
