Dacnis, Jun. 7, 1961, III.

and starts to feed The [[male]] starts to follow her. She flies up, with food in her bill. The [[male]] comes a little closer to her- and she immediately goes in to an extreme, rather high, diagonal [[ft?]] and does prolonged [[Q?]]!!! Quite silent. Then the 2 birds separate. As far as I could see, the [[male]] did absolutely nothing in the way of display during this incident.

Watching the 2 birds after they have been together several days. For a short time after 5:45 am.

Not much new. [[female]] still dominant [[male]] retreats whenever she comes close. Very often 1 (or both??) birds utter(s) 1 or 2 hoarse nasal "zaāah" or "ziwoāh" Notes when the [[female]] comes very close to the [[male]]. There must be HAC and/or Wb Notes. Not accompanied by [[?]] postures or movements. In fact, I can't even tell which bird(s) utter them. Once these notes develop into real hoarse nasal song phrases.
I am fairly certain that the song phrases I used to hear, when the birds were isolated, and when I introduced them to one another on previous occasions, were not this hoarse and nasal.
Once the [[male]] does silent Bowing when the [[female]] comes close
