[[underline]] Puerto Armuelles [[/underline]], July 19, 1967 X 21 But I certainly have no definite evidence to prove it. NOTE: Marcel examined the stomach of both the ♂ Saimiri killed this morning and the ♀ killed this afternoon. [[underline]] Both were largely filled with Cecropia fruits. [[/underline]] [[underline]] Puerto Armuelles [[/underline]]July 20, 1967 Crossing Burica Peninsula Reach coast Costa Rican side 1:15pm Almost immediately come across large band Cebus. In low forest (lots of palius and fruit bearing trees) right on edge beach. Species apparently quite alone. NOTE: On the way across the peninsula, we heard a lot of howlers wherever large forest remains (see also below). 2:10. Somewhat farther along. Still coastal forest. Very flooded here. Almost swamp. Came across [[underline]] large [[/underline]] group of Saimiri. Very low in vegetation. 3-15 ft up. Many in large low palius [[?]]. Apparently not frightened of us. Quite a few "Tsit"s and 1 or 2 Brrrps. When several approached us. Look at us silently. Some traces of SS. [[underline]] Also some "[[??]]" of Jud. [[/underline]] Bouncing up and down, but briefly and slightly, without taking hands or feet of perch. "Jud" quite silent. No Signs of any pilo-erection patterns. [[underline]] When one animal suddenly mounts another. [[/underline]] No [[?]]. But obviously copulation. Many pelvic thrusts. Quite silent. Tails of both more or less hanging. ♂ dismounts. No Post-cop display. Then animals move off.
