Going to work in Monte Seco again this afternoon. Arrive 2:15. Clear, hot, sunny day. Everything quiet.

3:20 pm. Come across nice group of Red Howlers (presumably same group seen a few days ago). Progressing fairly rapidly thru trees, 30-60 ft above ground. Strung out a considerable distance apart from one another. First an adult female, carrying young on belly; then a sub-adult; then an adult male; then another sub-adult. Both sub-adults silent. Both the mother and the adult male uttered long series rapid low grunts as they passed over me.

4:40 pm. Come across what is probably same group. High in big trees 40-80 ft above ground. Silent. Do not even respond to distant thunder. This species has the same slow way of moving as the BCI howlers. Apparently feeding. Very little noise of broken branches, twigs, etc.

4:56 pm. Howlers sitting still. Bedded down for the night ??? Still ignoring thunder.

General aspect this species quite different from pallista. Longer fuller beards, coming to a point at the bottom. Possibly also something different about brow ridges. But facial expression equally begubrious.

   Leaving group 5:06 pm.

5:20 pm. Come across group of at least 3 Capella (probably way more). In second growth tangles and vines 20-40 ft above ground. Several animals utter short single notes, which may be WB. Also one in
