The "laboratory band" of Red Spider monkeys appeared in the trees above the animal cages ca 10:00 am. Ran into a band of Howlers which has been around for several days. There was a terrific dispute between the adult male Spider and an adult male Howler. Spider came over the chased and poked the Howler. All rather desultory at first. Some hostile sounds by both individuals. Them the intensity increased. Finally the Spider advanced on the Howler and forced the latter to back down a tree trunk and run away (perhaps 100 yards) on the ground. The Spider Roared aggressively while advancing. The Howler Roared (in a rather "Screaming" way) while backing down the trunk, but fell silent while running on the ground. The Spider did not come to the ground after the Howler. Just remounted the tree in which the dispute occurred. And the Howler climbed up another tree.

The noise of this dispute stimulated a number of the captive animals. One of the adult male Sakis Roared, in an Arch Posture, with MO, PL, chin-left, etc., when the dispute first became intense. A captive (wild caught) adult female Capuchin, carrying infant, gave long series of alarm barks during and for long after the dispute.
