All this obvious alarm behavior appeared to be quite silent. Certainly no Whistles. But, of course, I cannot be certain that some type of Sharp Note was not uttered so softly that it did not reach us. Or that VS sounds were not uttered.

Most of the time, there was no trace of anything like tail curving or Tip-coiling. Only once did the obviously alarmed individual bring its tail way forward and upward. Comme ca: [[image: tail curling]] And this occurred just before or as it changed direction of movement. I.E. it may have been nothing more than a balancing reaction.

Fuhrbringer Sr. says that infants are carried by both males and females.

Fuhrbringer Jr.says that the following other monkeys occur in the general region. Our species of Sagumus (a "bebiliche" type). Saimiri Cebus apella. The Wooly Monkey. A Spider Monkey. And the Niglit Monkey. Plus two other types. A "black" form, with white on the throat, which must be Callicebus torquatus. Relatively large and upstream. And a gray and red form which probably is C. moluch. Relatively small and downstream.

He says that Cebus albifrous and Alouetta semiculus are both definitely absent.

I wonder why these two species are so rare, so frequently absent from areas, both here and in the Caqueta?
