operations as the tree still grows. The Cedar which has only a few holes, and only toward the base, is already big (at least 3 ft diameter) and tall (40 ft).

The holes certainly are too shallow to have been made by woodpeckers.

The second Pygmy area pointed out to me (again by Autuco)was a rather similar narrow strip on sides of a ravine. But even more obviously second growth

NOTE: I doubt if Pygmies have a preference for ravines as much. It is only that the local people cut down woods every where else.

This second area is no longer inhabited. Autuco's brother caught 6 Pygmies here recently. Unfortunately, he doesn't know if they were all members of the same group or not.

NOTE: The Pygmies were caught in traps baited with fruit.

Going to try to work in some small patches of forest behind Furbringer's farm.

Rained all last night-Fog and drizzle and storming. Reach fruit patch wood 8:00 a.m. Very quiet.
Then go on to larger patch of wood. Not very broad, but some of it looks mature. Unfortunately, rain and fog descend just as I arrive. I walk until 11:15, with-
