seeing titis and tamarins together last year. Could jays, titis, and tamarins all belong to the same social group.

In any case, it is obvious and definite that the tamarins with the titi(s) this afternoon could not have been attracted by any titi Songs within the last half hour.

The jays are described below.

A little bit further on, I find a huge Atta colony. Is this coincidence ?????

After exploring a bit, I find that this particular patch of forest is almost or completely separated from the patch behind Furbringer's House by a pasture and a large field of very dense low scrub. It seems unlikely that the titis would cross this barrier unless "forced".

3:00pm.  Slightly downhill. Strip of very dense thicket and low trees between taller second-growth forest and scrubby field. Come across group of tamarins. Apparently 3 individuals. Apparently fuscicollis. Two inds. quite close together. the third about 100 ft behind. All moving 10-30 ft up. Rather to my surprise, they vocalize extremely vigorously at my approach. Lots of Loud Sharp Notes, Soft Sharp Notes, Trills, Twitters, and Trill-Twitters. I can't see if these are accompanied by visual displays or not. 

After some minutes, the animals relax a little. At which point, the Twitters and Twitter-like patterns drop out; while the others continue at a reduced rate!!! Why? Is TW only high intensity in this species?
