and marshes.

All or most Song phrases beginning with "Chuk" Notes. Continue 5 minutes, then stop.

11:50 am. Several hundred yards further on. Region of very mixed forest. Large trees. Small trees. Occasional great clumps of vines (marking sites of dead trees), one of which was pointed out to me as a former home of moloch. Come across group of monkeys. Including 7-8 Cebus albifrons (definite) and 1 "Chichico blanco" (almost certainly Saimiri. Moving 30-50 ft up all types of vegetation, including palms. Rather dispersed. Chichico blanco in lead at first. Group as a whole silent. A few single very plaintive MGB's by albifrons. Also knocking sounds. Guide says albifrons cracks open nuts like apella. The capuchins retreat silently as soon as they see us. I don't see what happens to the Chichico blanco. Perhaps it separates itself from the others.

Guide says that both Saimiri and albifrons can be found alone as well as together.

A few minutes later, hear more moloch Songs in distance. Coming from a new area. Guide takes me to site where the animals live (he says). Area about 100 ft above stream. But soil rather badly drained. Both large and small trees. Lots of lianas. Whole place is very reminiscent of Mason's study area near San Martín.

NOTE: Robin Foster confirms that the Chichico blanco seen earlier was a Saimiri.
