where the fuscicollis were a moment earlier. The Callimico obviously sees us, but doesn't react very much at first. (According to guide they are tame when alone. shades of Callicebus!!!) Just sits on branch looking at us. Tail hanging down with Tip coil but no TR. No SS. Then utters a few Sharp Notes, sometimes accelerated into irregular trills. Then shuts up again. (The notes were not very loud. If they had been uttered (by fuscicollis, I would have called them Medium.) After a minute or so, the Callimico utters more Sharp Notes. Runs + leaps horizontally onto another branch of same tree. Pauses. (According to Foster, it also did full Tail-coiling (without bringing tail between legs) at same time. Then runs along branch and leaps into adjacent Cecropia. Then leaps way out and down into scrub below. With both arms and legs akmibo (i.e. not like Pithecia)

Briefly touches banana stock 2 or 3 feet above ground. Then bounces right on down to the ground and runs away.

I think that this animal must have been following the fuscicollis. But I also think that it ran away in a different direction from them. Guide thinks that there may be as may as 20 Callimicos on this island.

NOTE AND CORRECTION: He also says that there used to be Saimiri on the island but not any longer (Croned river to mainland). This might help to explain
