Dear Doris

I am sitting in the sun writing trying to get my back warm in the corner of the front-room. Pa has just to see "Old Blondy." It has been pretty cold here for the last three days and bids fair to continue a spill longer according to the paper. I heard a blue bird this morning so I think spring will be here some time. I still go over to make pies most every day. Kamute gave the apple an awful scorching yesterday so the pies tasted and he many hear from them later, the same as he did some prunes, we haad to throw some of the pies away. and that makes him careful for a time. The Masons have an entertainment for the ladies and have also invited the Eastern Star too. it comes off this week but I don't think of attending it this time it is a dressy affair and I guess there will be enough without us.

Transcription Notes:
The organization Eastern Stars was a sister chapter to the Masons, a fraternal organization. Eastern Stars were all females.
