Stoughton Feb 4th, 1922

Dear Doris
For want of something to do I am beginning your letter tonight. I have finished my Jackets and sent the last four in. Yesterday I cleaned the china closet and washed all the dishes, and in the evening Mort and Donna came up so to read your typewritten essay. Pa was down to the chapter meeting. They stayed untill he got home. meanwhile, I made tea and served cookies in my best china, we had a fine time. I let them read your conference letter which they were very interested in and thought you ought to get your living by writing. and Wednesday night Mr Ring and his wife spent the evening with us, and Pa made cocoa, and I served cream washington pie, also cookies, and Pa showed them Sidneys Guatamala pictures and read that same conference letter, they thought you were a wonder at describing things, so you see it was not written in vain, it gives people a chance of knowing something what it was like, who were not able to go and see for themselves. Tuesday Mort asked me to come down and see those portraits he had finished of Mother[[strikethrough]]s[[/strikethrough]] and Fath--
