Dear Doris

This has been a cold day all through & is still very uncomfortable Pa is worried over the water in the tank running over & flooding everything, thats his latest bugbear he had me feeling how high the water in the tank was rising at 12 o'clock at night. after that neither of us got much sleep. he beats the Devil. & Grandma was just as bad over things, only she had perhaps a little more sense. Jack & Irma will have a hard time in getting any one to stay there to do their work I am afraid. they are both too fussy & hard to suit. I guess Luie Dykeman did the right thing when he married his housekeeper. I guess your housekeeper likes fixing up & cooking for company. have you had an invitation to supper out to Tideys & has he made money enough to retire on with his French wife? the reason you dont get my letters more prompt is the post man some days dont come 'till twelve & my letter you see does not go out till the afternoon mail. but when I go down town I always carry to the office myself & in that way it goes on the early mail.
