PS Tuesday morning 18° above but pleasant, very icy in the streets. I am washing. Pa was restless all night, scart [[scared]] he said, I guess he ate too much before he went to bed seems well this morning

Stoughton Feb 8th 1932

Dear Doris

The storm clared [[cleared]] at noon, it did not ammount [[amount]] to much, but I think the South wind has perhaps melted away some of the snow, but theres enough left so when it freezes up tomorrow it will be terrible slippery going.

I went down to put my letter in the box at the corner & from there down to the little corner store after thread. & used my umbrella for a cane, as it was slippery & ruf [[rough]] going

Pa has been quiet for the three days back, his moods change. he had a good clearing out this morning. he looks ten years older I suppose its partly his beard. he slept fine all night. if I can keep his bowels open like this it is the main thing, but it is as much as my life is worth to make him do anything against his will. but he knows in the end I mean business.

I was telling Maude about Aunt Mollies last letter I received the other day from her & how discouraged she seemed & he had failed to find any thing to do. she wrinkled up her nose and said she aught
