Dear Doris,

This has been a very warm pleasant day & our snow is still with us, but its lowering & another hot sun will make plenty of slosh. The January thaw which we didn't get.

I went down town last night after a loaf of bread & found it pretty hard walking, but it was a pleasant change. Pa is very quiet, he has hardly spoken half a dozen times today. he did not sleep very well last night, but had a good nap right after dinner. We have not seen Ralphs folks for a week to day. the going is such, I doubt if they show up at all to day even.

It would seem good to talk to some body for a change. Pa hates even to have the radio turned on now, he is for having every thing quiet, + when he does burst out it's about 'their coming after us.' He was in the hall most all the forenoon hiding in next to the sitting room door sitting there on the floor just room for him to stretch out there. he rarely comes into the sitting room to sit down. He says people are looking at him to make fun of him. He is either eating most of the time or afraid to eat for fear of bursting. I don't think Dr. Ewing is needed & I don't care these times to mention his name even. he would swear

The postscript is at the top of the page but is transcribed at the bottom. I moved the postscript to the top of the page, as the letter continues, and so it would be weird to have the postscript in between continuation.
