Dear Doris

The cold shall continues through the day but think by Tuesday it will change & cloud up some. I have washed and lived through hanging out & taking in my clothes the worst morning we have had this winter for freezing the clothes & the wind blowing a gale meanwhile.

Pa has had a very nervous restless day, but at noon he had an hours sleep. he is losing his strength some & his color is very dark yellow, looks bad I think he has changed within the last week or ten days. I try to give him proper food and fight every time when he is made to take his Oil or syrip [[syrup]] but he gives in because he knows he must. he is hiding up now in the dining room in the dark. his listening in to the radio is a thing of the past & dont [[don't]] seem to amuse him any more.

The good sunny day has been our only pleasant feature I have sewed on my patchwork most all day. Mrs Griffin was saying that her sister Dolly you remember whose husband killed himself by jumping from the bridge

PS
Another day cloudy. I have just eaten my breakfast Pa is still eating. a fitting day for Candlemas & its old legend.

Ma
