Dear Doris

We are having a very sunny day but a cool wind. I have just been out doors looking at the garden & find the bulbs are coming up in the sheltered places so I think an early spring will be the result no doubt. I find that the sun being so high, we are getting it almost the whole afternoon in our sitting room. My rustic patchwork is progressing. I began it yesterday & I have made 13 squares all ready. I heard you say that you liked that pattern best. Pa is more quiet to day but now & then he breaks out with his bugbears. I was going down town, but I decided not to. I was in fear of exciting him & on the whole its better to keep him quiet if possible.

You asked me how much money I had on hand I have $45.00 in bills & some change I am not owing any body as Ralp took $5.00 Sunday to pay our cooperative bank dues. & I payed [[paid]] my oil bill when he brought it Saturday. I keep the Semaostart [[thermostat]] at 65° all the time & as a such its warm enough with the Kitchen fire. another month we may have to order coal & kindling perhaps. I wish March was through. but February will be the short month
