RADIO TALK BY VINCENT BENDIX (2)

developmental and research phases of the aeronautical art that the competitive trials in the Bendix race were first sponsored. It has I believe emphatically demonstrated its definite inherent distinction as an ideal testing field of the greatest practical value, providing flight conditions most closely comparable to those of commercial or military air transportation. The race and its rewards, its gold and its trophy, an incentive, the economic benefit of which have been incalculable.

In the records of this race are woven such names as Doolittle, Haizlip, Turner, Davis, Howard, Thaden, and Fuller. Their achievements are imperishable.

And let me add to the list of those whose names shall not be forgotten that of Clifford W. Henderson, Manager of the National Air Races whose untiring loyalty and indomitable spirit has knitted together the forces which each year are making of the National Air Races of which the Bendix Race is a part, history and success.

To you, who await the starting time in California, Ross Hadley, Lee Gelbach, Paul Mantz, George Armistead, Max Constant, Frank Cordova, Frank Fuller, Charles LaJatte, Bernarr McFadden, Jacqueline Cochran, Bob Perlick, and Arthur Born, we'll be cheering your safe arrival tomorrow, with new records and new success --- best wishes, and, best of luck.
