FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Largest Entry List Awaits
Start of Bendix Trophy List

The largest and most spectacular array of pilots and racing airplanes ever assembled in official competition will take part in the annual $30,000 Bendix Trophy race, which will be flown across America on September 2. According to Herbert L. Sharlock, representative of Vincent Bendix, eleven celebrated pilots have already entered the competition and six or eight more are rushing planes to completion in the hopes of being ready for the starting gun in Los Angeles.

The Bendix Trophy race is the year's high spot in aviation activities. It is the "flying laboratory" in which all improvements in design and performance are tested and proved. Practically all of the speed-producing innovations that have been tried out in the Bendix races of former years have now been adopted by regular transport airplanes and are in daily use on the nation's airways.

Official starting line of the Bendix race is at the Burbank air terminal in Los Angeles and it is estimated that a crowd of 40,000 American legionnaires will witness the take-offs of the ships. Official end of the race is at the Cleveland airport, where the national air races will be in progress. However, an additional prize of $5,000 has been posted by Mr. Bendix for the pilot who establishes a new transcontinental record between Los Angeles and Bendix, N.J., with another $1,000 for the first pilot to arrive in Bendix, N.J. These added prizes bring the total purse to $30,000, $2,500 of it being set aside for feminine pilots, who are also eligible to win the top purses.
