little bulbs are coming up fine, as the snows of the past winters have kept them warm, but lots of our shrubs have been winter killed. The season is very backward, nobody has begun to plant yet the ground is too wet. On our lilac the buds have only just started, & leaves on our trees are not out except on a few maples. People here are buying homes at a great rate, tenements are very scarce.

Myra Drake is going to be married, they are going into the little tenement that goes with the Jed Beals house and Errie Holmes has just put in an application to the bank for the house below us, as that Italian has fixed it up for sale.

After dinner - Fried ham, potatoes, parsnip, dandelions, canned corn, & whipped cream pie. Lena brought out of Boston the cream she gets it cheaper in there

Lena has been sitting out on the steps writing up her paper on the lectures that she has attended this winter, she is going to prepare to write up the "thesis" an this paper is to work into it later on. Now she is doing the dishes. Pa has invited me to go with them on their tramps so I am to finish this letter before we start. You must have a good time on your camping out trips, but I suppose your hot season will begin with you soon. A fire in Canton last night burnt up the ice houses
