he died just before Pa and she has been crazy by spells ever since. a pity she cannot go. Mrs. Barry is going down to the movies with Nellie Standish this afternoon. she called up just now to tell her troubles, she is dreadful despondent: she wants to die no one cares for her & she is alone all the time. they are the only ones Careta & Mrs. B who are good to her they pity her. Mamie Kate is very bad the minister gave her "holy communion" Monday. the last thing so now she can die & be saved. I am worried for fear some thing has happened as there has not been any word from you this week, something unusual. I live in hopes to hear soon something, or no news they say is good news Lena called up, she was afraid you had not [[strikethrough]] Resst [[/strikethrough]] received her letter or package, she sent it to the old address. the lampshade she gave me Xmas was a boughten one made of parchment & stamped with a border green & yellow. the shade was cream, it would not fit over the old shade so we put that away on the top shelf in the pantry for safe keeping. Mrs Barry has heard nothing but gloom over the telephone all the morning, crying with sympathy for others troubles. at last she has come to me and we have had a good laugh. she is glad to turn it off by laughter. meanwhile she managed to make two squash pies & has been interupted three times by their rings she has received. even now a doleful card from a woman pedler she was good to when she was here the other day. she wants cheering up I guess there are many such in the world. hope you are all well. I am glad to have the sunshine if it is cold.
