The opening catch of the pelagic sealers is usually brought to Hakodate in May and early June, when they refit and start out for The Copper Island sealing grounds or the Pribilofs, additional skins being taken as they go north.  For that season the number of skins landed at Hakodate do not represent the whole spring catch.
