Ameca is the End of Mex. Cent. R.R. & is in a rich farming valley at 4200 ft. The mts. in this district have some mines & a number of Americans are here prospecting &c. The feast for Holy week is going on & a couple of drummers & a man playing on a wailing kind of fife are constantly parading the streets from dawn to dark.
On the 27th I went back to Guadalejara to get aparejos &c which I had ordered there returning to Ameca on the 28th

March 1st & 2d We were busy getting things finally in shape for our start.
