by us at Colomo is the first of this group we have found on the West Coast & in the Tropics.  Late in the P.M. we came to a group of huts near the bank of a small creek where a few palm nut gatherers were living.  Here we had to stop for the night & our stock had nothing to eat but some young fronds which were cut for them.  The forest is dense here & during the night I had to move my bed twice to escape the dripping dew falling from the over arching tips of the long palm fronds.
[[strikethrough]] At [[/strikethrough]] This place is called "El Arroyo de Juan Sanchez."  At sun up we started on without breakfast except a few bites & cup of tea.  For | [[vertical mark]] several miles we crossed a nearly level table-land overgrown with grass & brush patches here & there. Finally we came to its end & went down a slope of 100 ft or so to a flat bottom land covering a broad valley-like plain between the surrounding hills. Here we again struck nut palm forests with a few rubber trees. Some park like grassy areas were crossed
