The place was in the hands of an old woman who prepared our supper. She was told to prepare some meat, eggs, beans + cook some bananas. She went off + after a while supper being announced we found only a part of our order & asking why the rest was not ready the old woman began to mutter & scold about the unreasonableness of people who wished so many things & said "how can I prepare so many things how is one to remember them all?" & made such a to do that we ate what we could get & said no more.

April 7th Leaving Compostela we crossed to the north side of the valley & then over the mt. ridge lying between this valley & Tepic.
