Stoughton July 18th 1948 Dear Doris It has been lovely cool weather up to now but guess to day the weather may be different theres no air & temp up above 80o the paper says there will be showers this afternoon it feels like it too Mr Mitchel a darkey is to take Mr Kilpatricks place at the church so Mrs Barry dont go to hear him preach she stayed up till after two Oclock to hear Trumans speech night before last they all went off and left him I am sending you two clippings out of the paper it seems George Ring has proffited by going to Boston + now he has a fine supervisor^[[insert]] job [[/insert]] where he earns a big salary I am glad for I always liked him + felt bad when he was turned down here This other clipping is the death of Miss Josephine Wyman she is older than I thought she was but after all she was Mary Mortons companion by the way Lilly Dutton inherited her money (Major Dutton married her I always thought so to provide a home for his daughter) it seems Lilly is living up here at the Restroom hospital + now she has a disease when she is turning to stone + when it reaches her heart it will prove fatal Careta called on me one day this week she came to Phoebie Hills to play cards one afternoon so before going home she call to see Maude at the Hospital + then came over here to see me She is very loyal to her friends
