Stoughton May 8th 1948
Dear Doris Its a stormy day. yesterday was our warmest day. it went up to 90 on the porch. then later in the day a thunder shower went around us to Brockton & the wind changed during the night, now this cold storm. I think its the May Storm. it usually comes upon us after a warm spell of weather. Pete was spading up a little spot over on his grounds & noticed he has a bed of tomatoes set out there. he should have waited until after this cold storm nothing thrives in such a cold spell. 

Mrs Barry has gone over to Bridgewater with a few, to play cards this afternoon. so I am here sewing & writing my letter to you, to take up any time. This is a pretty season of the year all our trees are leaned out & the apple trees in bloom. my spice bush is full of
