Dear Ma:

We saw Doris off this morning on the Colonial Express. Mrs. Foster's girl was there with her father – you know Mrs. F. died last August rather suddenly, — and she joined Doris and sat with her. They both had books to study and their lunches to eat, and should be company for each other on the long trip back. Then we came home and I did the weekly wash and got dinner. We went out for a little ride and I made a sketch that I mean to color sometime this afternoon when I have this letter done and my ironing cleared off. Sid is departing for the library for an afternoon there now.

I think Doris had a good time while she was home. Dolores was over here one night and she there another time, and she went with Dolores and a party of Geo Wash. friends of Dolores to a movie Gentlemen's Agreement, yesterday afternoon, and they all had a long afternoon together. I am sending you a few pictures we took of Doris & Dolores, and D's family, — her mother and 2 brothers, the younger with a puppy. The pictures with the cherry trees were taken over in the Arlington cemetery.

Tomorrow I go back to the museum to my regular world. It has been a rather strenuous week of homework and entertaining and cooking, but probably good for a change. Sat afternoon while Doris was gone & Sid at the library, I took a turn to see the German paintings again at the Mellon. The place was thronged. I met Gurney, one of the museum men, and his wife with their 2 young children, — he is a Mass. chap — and we went around together. They thanked me on leaving for making the show so interesting. I have been so often that I was able to tell them a lot about it.
