Stoughton March 28th 1948

Dear Doris, The day is cloudy & quite cool 40° one needs a fire in their furnace to feel warm guess you are glad to have Dorice down there for a spell. Mrs. Barry went to church & listened to a good sermon the church was crowded. I have just been to dinner – we had fresh pork roast with apple butter pudding, for desert, it tasted very good. Things are coming up around the garden with so much rain that we have had this week, grass is growing green around the yard & buds are swelling on the lilacs. guess birds are happy to think the terrible winter is ended, as well as the people are glad. Tomorrow they are to come around for rubbish. people I guess are glad, as they haven't collected all winter – we have got three bushel baskets full to set out. people have put out barrels full of ashes, which they don't take ever. well glad you are enjoying going around the country & enjoying seeing things it's nice.
love Ma
