MRS. HOLMES FETED

Mrs. Lucy Holmes, one of Stoughton's well known residents, celebrated her 93d birthday anniversary Thursday at her home, 290 Walnut street. She arose early and was first greeted by Mrs. Blanche Barry, her constant companion for the past 18 years. There was a shower of birthday greetings by mail and neighbors and many other local friends called and left her gifts of cake, candy, plants and cut flowers. A decorated birthday cake was another attraction. Mrs. Barry served tea to her many guests during the afternoon.

Mrs. Holmes is well and still in possession of all her faculties. She is a constant reader of the Enterprise and keeps abreast of the news of the world as well as what is going on in her home town. She is fond of plants and enjoys handiwork and her interests of other years still remain with her to-day at 93.

Mrs. Holmes was born in Stoughton, the daughter of Alanson and Sally (Talbot) Wentworth. She was born in what is known as the Mary Baker Eddy house on Central street and was a favorite of Mrs. Eddy in her early years. She was graduated from Stoughton High School in the class of 1867 with the late Dr. W. O. Faxon.

In her younger days she took work to do at home from the woolen mills and hat factories. She has one daughter, Doris, wife of Dr. Sydney Blake of Washington, D. C., and a granddaughter, Doris Blake of Washington, D.C., a student at Radcliffe College.
