Last night about 7 Oclock our doorbell rung & we found that Mr Colden our neighbor at the dor he came over with half a dozen doughnuts & some warm biscuits. he said that he made the doughnuts, but his wife made the bread. people are very good to us since Mrs Barry has been ailing. they bring over a lot of good food & pay our electric light bill for & telephone they know she cant go down to pay it so Laura & Phepe pay it for her (we furnish the money of course) I hope by now your cough is better. do be careful so not to add to it. I hope we have warmer days no wonder people are sick I am very fortunate I go out all weathers & dont get any worse for it. my blood must be good I guess. Yesterday Joe Swan Capen was buried. he sent me a birthday card his father Elija Capen was cousin to us. he seemed the best one in his family & died with lots of money he very often came up to see me & sent me cards on my birth day & never forgot me. I shall miss him a lot. he was awful good to Emily, he made her last days livable when her own family dies & left her all alone he took care of her, clear to the last. he knew her own family neglected her, & she gave up all her earnings to them they demanded it. well, this is all I have to write about. Ma.
