Stoughton December 23rd 1950

Well its a very pleasant Christmas & no snow, we have only had two light snow storms that disappeared very quickly, leaving the ground bare. now I hope they will be light the rest of the season.

Your check came early in the game safe I didn't need the money but it may come handy for coal later on. The Christmas box I opned today. every thing you sent was very pleasing you are awful good to send so many things, when money is so scarce. Mrs Barry gave me curtains for the front chamber. I guess they were needed, those others were torn but they were old when they were first put up. Irma Wayland brought up a box of hard candy & also a bottle of wine for Mrs Barry. Myrtle Giltcher has just gone away. she always brings a coffee cake every xmas & birth day. a good woman, she is in pretty hard circumstances I think since her husband lost his job in the Symphony. very capable but lazy I guess he expects her to support him. We have just had our xmas dinner
